Mersoft to be Awarded the 2015 Impact Award by ArtsKC Council

ArtsKC Awards Luncheon in January will honor Mersoft with the impact award for showing extraordinary leadership in the arts and creative industry.

November 25, 2014 – Kansas City Metro –  Mersoft, software engineering firm, has been awarded the ‘Impact Award of 2015’—by ArtsKC – Regional Arts Council, a Kansas City non-profit organization serving the five county region to provide funding to artists, arts organizations, and arts programs, as well as build greater connections between the arts and civic and business communities.

This is the first time that Mersoft has claimed this award. “When we foster the arts in Kansas City, we know it makes KC a better place to live and it helps us to attract and retain talent” said Jeff Weiner, VP of Engineering Services at Mersoft. Located in Overland Park, Mersoft is a software engineering firm and a technology start-up incubator.

To support and promote the arts in Kansas City, Mersoft developed a mobile app in partnership with ArtsKC called ArtSnap. The mobile app (both android and iOS) features augmented reality. When users visit Kansas City arts locations, they can take photos with virtual artists such as author Earnest Hemingway or designer Peggy Noland when targeting a special poster or simply being in the right GPS location at 15 sites around the metro.

“We consider the businesses that win the Impact Award as those companies that are leading the way for arts in the community. When a business has a unique set of skills, relationships and partnerships combined with our arts programs, strong things can happen and continue to make Kansas City a unique place to live.” said Harlan Brownlee, President of ArtsKC Regional Arts Council.

Considered one of Kansas City’s most inspiring business events of the years, the 2015 ArtsKC Awards Luncheon will be attended by more than 600 leaders in the business, civic, and arts communities on Friday, January 30, 2015.

KC ArtSnap launches at First Friday

February 1, 2014 – Kansas City Metro – Mersoft Corporation recently released KC ArtSnap app, a mobile application developed in partnership with ArtsKC.

KC ArtSnap, available for Android and iOS, is a mobile application using augmented reality that allows users to view art landmarks with a graphic of the original artist overlaid into the image.  In this case, users of KC Art Snap are able to capture friends and family posing with Kansas City art celebrities at their corresponding landmarks.

This is the second time Mersoft has implemented augmented reality technology in connection with the arts. Mersoft developed a similar technology for the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in 2012, which allowed museum visitors to experience art in a new reality. According to Jeff Weiner, V.P., Engineering Services at Mersoft, “It was tremendously successful and so we actively sought a partnership with ArtsKC this year.”

“As a software engineering company, we’re always looking for ways to energize our team members to help them think creatively, work together and push the limits of their current knowledge to try new things.  We’ve found a great way to do that is through a partnership with the arts,” says Weiner.

The Android version of KC ArtSnap was released March 6th, followed by iOS on March 28th. The app will be publicly debuted by ArtsKC at First Fridays in the Crossroads district on May 2nd.

KC Business Magazine names Pamela Potts to their “2014 Class of Influential Women”

January 21, 2014 – Kansas City Metro – Pamela Potts, Director of the Interactive division at Mersoft Corporation, was just awarded the KC Business Magazine 2014 “Class of Influential Women” award.  This award recognizes women in the creative, entrepreneurial, and nonprofit communities in Kansas City, all three of which Pam has shown outstanding achievement.

Potts’ creative drive started early on as a fine-arts student with a major in music education when she became an accomplished singer and music teacher. Her artistic drive became a business when in 2008, she started “Interactive Coaching and Consulting” which focused on interactive web marketing, brand development, website design and social media.

Pam’s current career path has brought her to Mersoft Corporation as head of the Mersoft Interactive division providing Internet Marketing & Design services including Website Design and Search Engine Optimization. Pam brings a strong background of marketing and technology skills to push forward new and innovative ideas.
Entrepreneurship has always been a theme for Potts who has started two companies, first in corporate training and later in marketing. While seemingly diverse in nature, they both remained in line with two of her passions: art and education. Currently, Potts is also the Director of iCOR at Mersoft, a new education technology product that she helped drive from concept to implementation.

Another pillar of Potts’ core values that is being recognized by this award is her non-profit work, especially the area of advocacy for women. Potts founded the Live to Bloom charity to help young women discover their natural God-given strengths and develop me them into career opportunities and ultimately economic empowerment. Since 2009, the group has helped countless women improve their economic condition and self-confidence. In addition to this worthy cause, Pamela is active with the Central Exchange, sits on the advisory board of the Women’s Clinic of Kansas City.

Pamela Potts has done an outstanding job at following her core values, each of which relate to and overlap that qualities honored by this award. She embodies the message to women in KC and beyond that the way to be successful, and to make a difference in the world, is to follow your passions and stay true to your values.

Mersoft congratulates Pamela on this outstanding recognition of her achievements.
